Corunna

HISTORIC: The town of Corunna can be located on DeKalb Couny maps as early as 1858 because it was a stop for trains on the New York Central Railroad. However, it was not until 1902 that Corunna became a town.

CITY AMENITIES: Elementary students attend Country Meadow Elementary School. Junior and Senior high students attend DeKalb High School and DeKalb Middle School. The Corunna Fireman’s Festival is held the last Friday and Saturday in June. It starts Friday with a fish fry and Saturday hosts all day events.

GOVERNMENT and INDUSTRY: The town operates its own water and sewage services. Corunna is covered by the DeKalb County Sheriffs Departments. The Fire Department includes twenty-two volunteers and is directed by the Fire Chief. A town manager, town board, and town council help oversee activities, projects, and development. Its population according to the 2003 U.S. Census Bureau was 251. Popular businesses in Corunna include Albrights Meat Market and Carters Lumber.
