Corunna

The town of Corunna can be located on Dekalb County maps as early as 1858 because it was a stop for trains on the New York Central Railroad. However, it was not until 1902 that Corunna became a town. Its population according to the 2003 U.S. Census Bureau was 251.

Popular businesses in Corunna include Albrights Meat Market and Carters Lumber. The town operates its own water and sewage services.

Elementary students attend Country Meadow Elementary School Junior High and High School students attend Dekalb middle school and Dekalb High School. The Corunna Fireman’s Festival is held the last Friday and Saturday in June. It starts Friday with a fish fry and Saturday hosts all day events. Corunna is covered by the Dekalb County Sheriffs Department. The Fire Department includes twenty-two volunteers and is directed by the Fire Chief. A town manager, town board, and town council help oversee activities, projects, and development.
