Electricity Service
The electric utility service in DeKalb County is provided by Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO) and Indiana Michigan Power (I&M), Noble County REMC, Steuben County REMC, Garrett Municipal Utilities and Auburn Electrical Department. Rates are based on usage.

Natural Gas Service
Natural gas is supplied in DeKalb County by Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO), which has an interconnected system supplied by five gas pipelines with long-term contracts. Local service is also provided in areas by Northern Fuel & Light Company (NIFL).  Both NIPSCO and NIFL are subsidiaries of NiSource, Inc. 

Telecommunications Service
Telecommunications service in DeKalb County is provided by Verizon and AT&T, among several others. All vendors carry the latest in technology up to - and including fiber networks. There is the potential for redundancy in the network for all locations. 

MediaCom offers digital cable TV and voice over Internet service to DeKalb County.  The company also provides high speed internet connections via cable modems. 

Auburn Essential Services (AES) offers high speed, fiber optic broadband internet and telephone services. Television services will be bundled in the near future with this package.

Municipal Water and Sewer Service
Most cities and towns in DeKalb County are in charge of their own water and sanitary sewer systems.
